Home Safety

Lets talk home safety.

Something any home owner or renter should be concerned about. A burglary occurs about every 25.7 seconds on the US. Think about that. The time it takes you to read this first paragraph, someones house has been broken into. (Hopefully not yours!) That equals up to over 3,300 burglaries a day.

Now lets talk finance. The average loss from a burglary is about $2,799.That's money you now have to front for new belongings that you could've had saved up for a fun vacation, a down payment on a car or that new mountain bike you've been eyeing up....typically it's a fraction of that cost to upgrade your home security. Wait now, think this through even more-because 50% of people who were victims of a burglary had something of sentimental or irreplaceable value stolen from them and the chances of recovering those belongings are extremely slim. And what happens afterwards? Well, 67% of those people experience an emotional effect and have trouble feeling safe in their own homes. I mean, can you blame them? So what did most people do after a burglary? About 49% of people changed their locks, 41% added home alarms and 38% had installed security cameras. What are you going to do to prevent one? Chances are, that lock you got from *insert big name box/online store here* isn't going to work too well. So be proactive and make safety a lifestyle to keep your family safe.

  • Start with upgrading your locks, because typically standard locks aren't that secure. It's an easy switch for us to come out and upgrade your hardware. We can help you with everything. From choosing the right lock, style and level of security for your home to installing! If you're renting, talk to your landlord about any security concerns. We service apartments/condominiums as well.

  • Take a cruise around your property from the outside to get a different perspective. Make sure the basement or sliding glass door aren't too rickety. Don't forget those windows either. Be sure to secure them so it's not an easy lift and hop in.

  • A motion detector or security camera can definitely add an extra level of security and also show if anyone has been scouting your home. Because playing “Hey, I’m gonna give you to the count of ten, to get your ugly, yella, no-good keister off my property, before I pump your guts full of lead! 1, 2, 10!” isn't always going to deter people!

  • Get a dog! Then bring him/her into our shop to say "hello". No seriously, we *Chrissy and I* love our furry visitors. We are also not responsible if your dog falls in love with us and tries to stay, we provide quality pets. But seriously, not only do dogs provide excellent companionship, but hearing a growling snarl as someone is scouting your property is definitely a deterrent. *Disclaimer: While this may actually be factual, only get a dog if you and your family is ready,(but seriously, bring them in if you do!!!).

So, there you have it. A quick few tips on some home safety. Keep your family and belongings safe. Lock it up!
